This example appears in a coarser size 10 thread. In a fine thread it makes a beautiful edging for a doll dress or baby outfit. Ring, ring, ringĮdging 1 is the same ring over and over. They are simple and delightful and you might fall in love with them. The first two patterns came from a 1926 article on simple one-shuttle tatted edgings. Wet them down and lay them out when you’re finished with them. After you drag them out of your pocket or bag a few times they may even have a few wrinkles. They appear just as they will coming off your shuttle. None of these examples are washed, pressed, or starched. That way you can hop in wherever you like. One is etched (and is thinner than the others), one is marked simply "Pat. The last three silver colored shuttles measure about 3". I am unsure of the materials but they are probably celluloid/plastic. This one and the other light one have round center posts and measure about 3". The card is marked "Tatting Shuttle, a Tilco Product, Made in USA" and has handwritten "#11 $6.95" in pencil. The shuttle on the card is more rounded than the others (pumpkin seed?) and is less yellowed than the other light one. It is scratched on one side but not chipped. The black/ebony shuttle measures only 2.25" and has no marks or fasteners showing on the outside. It measures 4.25" long and has a rectangular center. The largest tatting shuttle is yellow and marked "Tatsy tatting made easy" on both sides. This lot includes 7 tatting shuttles, a lace making bobbin, 2 picot hooks, a crochet hook, an awl and 2 other wood handled tools. A nice lot for the collector and/or tatter.
